We began as a small group of Christians from various denominations meeting in a home each week to study the bible and pray for the people living in our area.
That was in the late 1970’s, by the early ’80’s the group had grown and was meeting regularly at the Community Centre on Wildwood for a Sunday morning meeting, whilst continuing to gather in homes during the week.
At this time the group was officially formed as a non-denominational evangelical church with the name Wildwood Christian Fellowship (Stafford), gained charitable status and joined the Evangelical Alliance.
Alongside our Sunday and mid-week meetings, the church began to run activities for the wider community such as after-school clubs for children and a weekly meeting for older people to get together and form friendships.
Our church was formed on the foundation of friendships with an emphasis of Bible study, prayer, serving the community, and sharing the good news about Jesus.
In 2003 we became part of the Newfrontiers family of churches and part of the Borderlands region.
In 2008 we opened “The Gateway” as a base for our church offices and as a facility for us to serve our local community. We now run a variety of mid-week groups including coffee mornings, craft groups and youth activities.
In 2013 we changed our name to Wildwood Church.
In 2016 we started the journey to become “Wildwood Church Stafford” a registered Charity and company limited by guarantee.
Today we are a church of about 90 adults and children, meeting in Barnfields’ Primary School on a Sunday and in each others’ homes during the week.
Our vision is to build God’s church by providing Gateways to Him that show His love in our communities.
