Seeking God's vision for us for today

One of the marks of transition that Craig Marsh encouraged us to seek God for was this-

“New revelation unfolds for the journey ahead so that you can move forward.

Not a time to sit back but to sit up. Not a time to wait and see if it all works out, not a time to throw in the towel, not a time to move on because of change in the church, not a time to resist, shut down, withdraw, go into hibernation or depression. "

We have also been encouraged to look for and encourage the 'hidden jewels' in the church and not to see ourselves as a 'pile of rubble' waiting for something to happen!

With this clear word from the Lord ringing in our ears we have sought God for a fresh vision for this period. We recognise that there will be change ahead as we anticipate that He will call a new leader to us, but we are urged to see His Kingdom advance now and not to wait around. As Trevor Partington reminded us from John 4:35, the fields are already "white for harvest".

We feel that our vision should be from God, for now and for us. It should give clarity to what He is calling us to; draw us together as a body; help us to distinguish between the various things we could do; and send us out in His power. We are confident that the church vision we have had for some years has been of God and remains true for today and tomorrow: this is a specific sense of His call for today.

Our call is to help them find the "straight way" described in Psalm 107 verse 7 to His city or His kingdom. The vision below seeks to put into a few words our desire to help people find the One who has already provided a way of salvation (Hebrews 2.3).

"Our aim is to provide Gateways to God

by sharing His love in our communities"
